Hauntings & Homicides of the Dutch Fork: TOMORROW

Hopefully last minute plans, hauntings, and homicides are your thing. If you’re into history and true crime, tomorrow nights Hauntings & Homicides of the Dutch Fork is the event for you. As described on the event’s flier, “Join us for fireside stories of Murders, Hauntings, Legends, and Lore of the Dutch Fork.”

About Hauntings & Homocides of the Dutch Fork fireside event

Hauntings and Homicides of the Dutch Fork is hosted by the Derrick Community Center. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the area, the Derrick Community Center is located at 16 Depot Street, Little Mountain, South Carolina 29075. This is about a 45 minute drive northwest on I-26 from downtown Columbia, South Carolina. However, the fireside event will take place up the road at Reunion Park. Make sure to plug 749 Mill Street, Little Mountain, SC into your GPS. 

If you’re planning to attend the event flier indicates that there are three sessions of Hauntings & Homicides. The first session kicks off at 7 PM followed by sessions at 8 PM and 9 PM. Additionally, admission is free. Restrooms are available on site. Also of note, pets are not allowed at this event. 

Normally, the Derrick Community Center is a library offering internet and public computers to its patrons, but tomorrow night, the Community Center sponsors  the Hauntings & Homicides of Dutch Fork event. As a disclaimer, the Facebook page for the event gives warning that some of the material is “too intense and scary for young children.” Additionally, the event flier reiterates adult content and that children are allowed at parent’s discretion. 

What to do in Little Mountain, South Carolina

While there isn’t much to do in Little Mountain, if you plan to make an evening of the Hauntings & Homicides of Dutch Fork fireside event, there is only one restaurant to choose from. Alternatively, you can swing through Irmo, South Carolina on the way to the event and choose from one of the hundreds of restaurants located in Harbison. However, if you choose to explore Little Mountain, The Antique Mall Cafe is the place to go. The Antique Mall Cafe is categorized as American cuisine offering cafe food and soups. One TripAdvisor  reviewer raves that the Antique Mall Cafe is “a nice surprise.” They go on to write, “My wife & I stopped [in] spontaneously after she just happened to see an advertisement while on the interstate and didn’t really know what to expect.” Consequently, this is because the couple hadn’t been to Little Mountain before. However, they advise that they were “taken aback (in a good way) when they stepped into the Antique Mall.”

Unfortunately the restaurant’s hours would leave you with about four hours to kill since they are only open from 11 AM till 3 PM. Luckily there are several state parks nearby to enjoy while you wait for Hauntings & Homicides of the Dutch Fork. One of which is Dreher Island State Park. Consequently, TripAdvisor reviews love to boast about the clean restrooms, numerous shelters, and ample bird watching. There are also several hiking trails.
