Summertime in Maggie Valley is beautiful. I have a large family. This is a great affordable vacation.

The cabin we stayed in, was at a high elevation. Normally with our four kids, we would try to find something in the Valley. I definitely will not stay high up next time. Although we woke up to remarkably breathtaking views, our nerves were shot worrying about the kids safety. This is merely preference and may not bother you.
On this trip we set our budget to spend money on eating out. I usually go grocery shopping, but end up having a lot of uneaten food. We did spend more but we got to really enjoy some small businesses.
Joey’s Pancake House

Joey’s Pancake House is a fantastic place for breakfast! They had all your favorites. The staff is super friendly, the service excellent and the food came out fast. We love this place! They also have a pretty cool story.
J Arthur’s Restaurant

We ate dinner here the first night we stayed. It was great. The kids had their chicken fingers and fries. My husband and I both got burgers. They were excellent.
Shopping
The Valley has so many shops and places to see. I highly recommend. The Cabbage Rose, Seven Silver Seas-which is the all purple shop. My daughter bought some amazing clothes.

It rained a lot the first few days we arrived so the shopping was a fun distraction.
Visit the Casino
About a twenty to thirty minute scenic drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway will land you in Cherokee. The Casino is fun, the hotel is beautiful and you can even eat at one of Guy Fieri’s restaurants, located inside Harrah’s Hotel and Casino.
Myself and my Husband and Sister-in-Law took a quick trip to Cherokee. It was impulsive, but we wanted to check it out. We had so much fun that we want to go back and just stay at the hotel one weekend. It will not disappoint! There is an indoor bowling ally, bars, restaurants, the casino and more around Cherokee to enjoy.
Santa Land

Yes this is a think. It is also in Cherokee. What a great idea for the family! When we drove past this attraction, I wanted to take the kids. Santa Land, has rides, a small zoo, activities and shows for the kids and more. They are seasonal, and open from May to November. Make sure you check their website before visiting. Tickets are usually 23.25 per person.
