Undoubtedly, the 2020 South Carolina State Fair is going to be one for the record books. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions. Seemingly, the coordinators for the South Carolina State fair have come up with a unique solution for safely hosting the fair whilst battling an ongoing global pandemic.
What we know about the changes to the South Carolina State Fair
Shortly after the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the South Carolina State Fair announced that the fair would be a drive-through event for 2020. Rightfully so, many South Carolinians are skeptical of this notion.
Luckily, ABC Columbia reports on the details of the upcoming fair. Most notable of details is probably the fact that admission to this one of a kind fair event is free. Rightfully so, the slogan for this year’s fair is, “A year like no other.”
This year’s fair events will begin on Tuesday, October 20th from 10 AM until 8 PM. The events will continue to Wednesday, October 21st from 10 AM until 8 PM. These dates encompass a drive-through of the fairgrounds to “see different animals, farm equipment, and art.” Additionally, the route will have a preview to the upcoming Second Annual Carolina Lights. Remarkably, officials project that the route will take approximately 20 minutes.
But what about fair food? And other fair favorites.
At first glance, fairgoers may be concerned that two days is not nearly enough time to indulge in all the scrumptious fair food delights. Never fear. Fair food will be available from October 20st through October 24th.
Seemingly, fair officials have thought of a couple different ways to keep this unique fair experience in motion. For example, patrons can listen to a Spotify Playlist featuring the bands that have visited the South Carolina State Fair over the years. If visitors need something to keep the car’s passengers entertained while traversing through the fair, look no further that the “I Spy Scavenger Hunt.” The “I Spy List” is available on the fair’s website.

COVID-19 Updates
The most recent COVID-19 update for the South Carolina State Fair was posted to the website on October 1st. Unfortunately, the update redirects page viewers to different sections of the website and does not offer much substance. However, it is apparent with the abundance of updates that the organizers of the South Carolina State Fair are concerned for the safety of it’s guest over the course the unprecedented four-day event.
