Bee City: Small Town Wildlife Experience

Located just two hours southeast down I26 from Columbia, South Carolina, is the little town of Cottageville, South Carolina. Just northwest of Charleston, South Carolina, it could easily be a nice detour for a road trip to Charleston. Surprisingly, Cottageville is home to Bee City Farms. Bee City Farms is located at 1066 Holly Ridge Lane, Cottageville, South Carolina 29435.  

About Bee City Farm

Bee City Farms is open all year on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 AM until 5PM. In June through August, the farm is also open Tuesdays through Thursdays. Rightflully so Bee City Farns is a popular destination for field trips. Also, memberships are available for purchase. Admission is only $12 a person and there are several discounts available. 

Remarkably, Bee City Farms is home to a honeybee farm and petting zoo. Fun for children of all ages, the petting zoo is interactive. For just $1, visitors can get food to feed the monkeys. Also for $1, food to feed the birds is available. Additionally, for $3 visitors can get a bucket of food to feed the big animals. As their Facebook page says, “Come Monkey around with us at Bee City!”

Upcoming events

Excitingly, recent videos from Bee City Farms features a sloth. Gertrude the sloth is just one of the many ambassador animals you can have an interaction with. Another recent video mentions the upcoming Bee City Farms Fall Festival. Maybe visitors will have the opportunity to visit the sloth while they attend. Other animals in the petting zoo include wallabies, coatimundis, serval cats, cavies, and many other farm animals. Animals of the farm variety include miniature horses, donkeys, turkeys, chickens, quail, and pheasants. 

Unfortunately, the Fall Festival at Bee City is in the planning stages. Consequently, there aren’t many details to release other than Bee City Farms seems excited to see you. Additionally, Bee City Farms also announces that they are in the planning stages for a Holiday festival, as well. However, recent reviews indicate Bee City Farms is great to visit at any time. One TripAdvisor review says, “This place was wonderful! We loved that you could feed some animals and that the zoo does not look and feel like a traditional zoo. It felt much more like a hike or a nature walk and more natural. We will definitely return!”
