Fun fall activities are in full swing. If you’re looking to get a small town feel not too far away from Columbia, Blythewood’s Second Annual Oktoberfest may be the event for you.
Second Annual Oktoberfest Blythewood
Hosted by Brain Freeze Desserts Catering & Food Truck, Oktoberfest Blythewood kicks off on Saturday, October 17 from 10 AM to 10 PM. According to the event’s Facebook page, the event is put on by the Blythewood Chamber. The event will take place at Doko Meadows Park. The park is located at 171 Langford Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.

According the Blythewood Chamber’s Facebook page, the event is scheduled. The Chamber is following COVID-19 guidelines. With that in mind, facemasks are required and social distancing guidelines are in place. With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, attendance to the event is limited. The Chamber also asks that attendees bring their own seating. In addition to bring your own seating, no coolers are allowed in the venue. Additionally, no tents are allowed in the seating pod (viewing) area. The Covid Compliant Chart provided to the public on the event’s webpage is exemplary.
Family friendly fun, food, and vendors
The schedule of events if found on the event’s website. Attendees of the event can expect to see Traditional German Hiking during VolksMarch, a Polka Band, and bingo among other things. Unfortunately, the list of vendors isn’t readily available. Without a doubt, the event is popular. The event’s Facebook page shows that 1.2K people are interested in the event.
Experience the essence of Oktoberfest with several food and beverage vendors. There will be Biergatens with German beer and professional servers. There will also be local and German food trucks. If you’re looking to get a taste of “fair” foods, there will also be ice cream, sweets, and “fair” food favorites.
Excitingly, this event is family friendly. There are games and activities for the kids. The schedules of events for the Second Annual Okoberfest Blythewood lists Kindertown Children’s Games, Traditional German Trachten Dress Contest, and a yodeling contest. Additionally, it is noted that there are no mechanical rides at this event.

Interestingly, The Board of the Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce is one of 19 Chambers recently forming the Midstate Chamber Coalition. The Chamber’s website describes Blythewood best, “Blythewood offers a hometown atmosphere with metropolitan conveniences an corporate opportunities nearby.” The area is also described as “one of the fastest-growing areas in South Carolina.” The area offers a rich historical heritage and highly accredited schools. All just a quick drive north of South Carolina’s capitol, Columbia.
